Zabina is living with HIV/AIDS. She lost her husband in 2009 due to AIDS and is now taking care of four grandchildren whom she is not able to care for well since she is a peasant and goes to cultivate people’s gardens in exchange for either a small amount of money or for food – not enough to sustain the family. She would love to get somebody who can help her come out of that situation and also to sponsor the children of her son so that she can care for them properly.
Sseba Joy became a widow some 12 years years back. She is a farmer and is raising her grandson. Sseba’s health is becoming weak since she does a lot of work at home and has no one to help even with the garden work. This is a affecting her much and she is in need of anyone who can help her to meet the basic needs of herself and her grandchild.
Specioza is a born again Christian woman who loves Jesus Christ very much. She lost her husband 18 years back and now she is earning her living from farming and selling onions and tomatoes. She does all this because she has no help, but, sincerely speaking, at that age she should could be doing some little work at home, not digging gardens and traveling to far places to sell her vegetables.
Since many families in Uganda are extended families, Specioza is also caring for the three young children of her brother and his wife, who died of HIV/AIDS in 2004. They all depend on her and this family needs help because the children are not going to school as they lack both basic needs and scholastic materials. Anyone who reaches his/her hand to help Specioza and the family at large will be highly appreciated.
Sarah lost her husband due to HIV/AIDS in 2006 and now she is taking care of three children alone, which is even harder for her since she is weak because she is not getting proper treatment of her HIV/AIDS. She is not able to sustain her family with all the basic and scholastic materials. She depends on gardening in order to provide the family with food and other basics but she needs help from anyone who can sponsor her family since she is being affected by HIV/AIDS and continues to grow weaker.
NAME: Ruth Nabirye
OCCUPATION: vegetable seller
Ruth is a widow living with HIV/AIDS. She has 3 children and her husband died in 2006 leaving her with no support or property to inherit since the husband was also a poor man who depended on fishing. Ruth moves around the village selling vegetables in order to raise money for her rent, school fees for the children and for their basic needs. But the money she gets for all that hard work cannot pay for all those needs, which has led to the necessity for two of her children to drop out school. Please help this family.
Rose is a widow who lost her husband nine years back. He died of spinal cord cancer. Now Rose sells fruits such as mangoes, oranges and others in order to earn a living since she has no other support at all. Although she has three children who are married, they are drunkards and they cannot support their mother because any little money they get is put in to drinking of alcohol. Rose would love to expand her small business of selling fruits but she has no help and she needs anyone who can sponsor her in any way.
Rehema is one of our church members whose husband died in a motor accident in Iganga district. She has two children and at the moment Rehema works as a cook in a primary school in order to earn a living. Her monthly salary of $18 is not enough for house rent and buying basic needs and scholastic materials. When our team of JILM visited Rehema, she said that she would really love to start some income-generating activity that would help both her and the family to improve their situation but she has no one to help with capital.
Faith’s husband died of a heart attack in Jinja main hospital seven years back. She has two children and she depends on selling paraffin to earn a living. Faith is working so tirelessly to maintain the family with all the basic needs since life demands is a lot and she cannot sustain her family with all the demands including education for her children. Faith needs our help in any way, both in prayers and financial help.
Joyce has three children that she is raising alone, her husband died of HIV/AIDS and she was left without any kind of help. She earns a living by cultivating in other people’s gardens for the exchange of food and a small amount of money. Prayer and material help are very needed.
Jane is a widow who is caring for grandchildren alone. She lost her husband due to Cancer in 1999. To support her family she works in sugar cane plantations where she is paid $ 17 monthly, which is not enough for all the family needs including scholastics for the children left with her by her also-widowed daughter who could not take care of the children so they were taken in by Jane. Any help for this family will really be appreciated.
