The following article highlights what flows from Jesus\u2019 resurrection power as we continue to seek to fulfill the Great Commission.<\/p>\n

Transformation: The Purpose of the Great Commission<\/h2>\n

The Apostle Paul exhorted the people at Rome to \u2018be transformed by the renewing of your mind\u2019 (Romans 12:2). He also taught the church at Corinth that we \u2018are being transformed into the same (God\u2019s) image from glory to glory\u2019 (2 Corinthians 3:18). This transformation is the reason we are commissioned to preach the gospel of the Kingdom and make disciples of all nations. <\/p>\n

Jesus not only gave us the Great Commission; he modeled it. In Luke 4:18 and 19 He announced His intent or His mission statement. The Father appointed and anointed Jesus to:<\/p>\n

[1] Transform the Poor <\/h2>\n

Jesus came with a message of good news that gave hope to those in poverty. Where the gospel is received and people become converted, their lives are changed and the blessing of God ultimately transforms their situation.<\/p>\n

[2] Transform the Broken-hearted <\/h2>\n

Jesus was sent to heal those people whose hearts and lives were broken. Healing brings lives back to health and wholeness.<\/p>\n

[3] Transform the Captives <\/h2>\n

Jesus not only proclaimed freedom for those who are bound, He delivered them from their bondage and has empowered us to do the same. <\/p>\n

[4] Transform the Blind <\/h2>\n

Not only does this mean physical blindness being healed, but the eyes of our hearts being opened. Jesus\u2019 message included renewed vision for those who had lost the ability to see hope for the future.<\/p>\n

[5] Transform the Downtrodden <\/h2>\n

Jesus brought liberty for those who have been crushed by the circumstances of life and damaging relationships. He has authorized us to do the same. <\/p>\n

Our community programs and missions activities only have value and significance as vehicles for the transforming power of God to change lives, families and communities. As we go across Uganda or into our community, let\u2019s allow the Spirit of God to lead us to bring transformation!<\/p>\n
